Marzamemi è un incantevole e vivace borgo marinaro in provincia di Siracusa, una meta ideale per chi desidera unire la bellezza del mare alle iniziative culturali, che soprattutto in estate la rendono una piccola capitale dell’arte e della creatività.

Tra le iniziative principali si annoverano mostre d’arte contemporanea, una rassegna cinematografica e un festival dedicato alle arti e ai mestieri che raccoglie artigiani provenienti da tutta Italia.    

Un po’ di storia

Fondata dagli Arabi intorno all’anno mille, Marzamemi ha una lunga storia legata al mare e alla pesca. Il suo nome deriva dall’arabo “Marsà al-hamam”, che significa “baia delle tortore”, proprio perché la zona era un importante punto di sosta per le tortore durante le loro migrazioni stagionali.

Il cuore del villaggio è la tonnara, una delle più antiche e importanti della Sicilia, dove per secoli si è praticata la pesca del tonno. Oggi, la tonnara è un affascinante complesso architettonico che ospita eventi culturali e gastronomici.

Marzamemi e il cinema, un legame  indissolubile

Fin dagli anni ’60, Marzamemi ha avuto un legame speciale con il cinema, diventando una location ambita per registi italiani e internazionali. La sua atmosfera suggestiva, con le casette in pietra, i due porticcioli, l’antico forno e la tonnara settecentesca, ha fatto da sfondo a numerose pellicole di successo. Tra i film più celebri girati a Marzamemi ricordiamo L’Avventura di Michelangelo Antonioni, Sud di Gabriele Salvatores e L’Uomo delle stelle di Giuseppe Tornatore.

Questo legame indissolubile con il cinema ha contribuito a rendere Marzamemi una meta turistica ancora più attrattiva, non solo per gli amanti del mare e del paesaggio, ma anche per i cinefili, che a settembre, hanno la possibilità di assistere al  Marzamemi Cinefest

 

Il Festival cinematografico di Marzamemi è incentrato sulla valorizzazione storica e culturale del Mediterraneo e della Sicilia e ha l’obiettivo di raccontare aspetti locali e contaminazioni esterne che nel tempo hanno favorito il dialogo tra questa regione e il resto del mondo

La manifestazione ha una durata di cinque giorni durante i quali vengono proiettate pellicole su tre diversi schermi collocati in altrettanti spazi suggestivi del borgo.

Il borgo ospita anche laboratori artistici, gallerie d’arte botteghe artigiane che lo rendono suggestivo e culturalmente all’avanguardia.

Quest’anno, tra le novità in campo artistico, l’inaugurazione dello StudioBlu81 Contemporaryart, un luogo di aggregazione artistica dedicato alla creazione ed esposizione di opere d’arte contemporanea a cura della  pittrice Chiara Fronterrè. 

Lo studio, oltre ad essere una galleria d’arte vera e propria, funge da spazio di condivisione di stili e linguaggi espressivi diversi, con lo scopo preciso di coinvolgere più artisti e farli dialogare tra di loro.

Il Festival Artieri, conosciuto anche come Mercato Creativo, è uno degli eventi estivi più attesi e rinomati di tutta la Sicilia.

Si svolge tutti gli anni tra luglio e agosto all’interno dell’antica tonnara, ed è divenuto negli anni un punto di riferimento importante per artigiani, orafi, sarti, ceramisti, designer, illustratori, e disegnator italiani che non solo hanno la possibilità di poter esporre le proprie creazioni, ma anche di lavorare dal vivo sotto gli occhi dei visitatori.

Un evento totalmente made in Italy che vede protagonisti le arti e i mestieri della nostra Italia.
